Our final project for art 3 was foam intarsia. For my project I decided to create a sugar skull. First we made a sketch of our projects, then copied it on to a larger piece of paper. Then we tapped the final drawing over a piece of Styrofoam and traced the image with a pen or a dull pencil. This dented the Styrofoam so that when we removed the paper we had a copy of the image. Then we cut out pieces of the image like a puzzle. Once the pieces were removed we sanded the edges of the pieces and the holes they were cut out of. It created a really cool rounding affect when we put the pieces back together. After that we painted the pieces and put them back together inside of the frames Mr. Varney made for us. There were a lot of really great projects and I'm happy with the way my sugar skull turned out. This might have been one of my favorite projects and it was a great way to end the school year. even if I came very close to not having time to finish.
